Understand and Experience the Blessings of True Worship (Part Five)

Exodus 23:25 (NKJV)

"So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you."

One of the great secrets of the Christian life is to maintain the position and the attitude of a true worshiper. We know that God is Spirit and He can only operate and reveal Himself and His glory through men who are yielded to Him in worship. Worship is the dedication of our lives to the will and purpose of God. Worship is acknowledging the sovereignty of God in our lives and over creation. To worship God means to acknowledge the worth and glory of God; To honour and reverence Him; To submit to His lordship and authority; To serve His purpose.

In the OT, the word frequently translated as worship also means:

• to bow (self) down,

• to fall down (flat),

• to humbly beseech,

• do reverence,

• to make to stoop

• to do (make) or to obey

What do we stand to gain when we engage ourselves to be true worshipers of God? 

1. Good health 

We see that in Exodus 23:25. Moses told the Israelites:

"So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you."

Oh! May God bless you bread and your water. May He turn the food you eat into medicine that will heal you and restore your health in Jesus name! 

2. Multiplication and long life 

Still in Exodus 23, Verse 26 we read:

" No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days."

At this point, the Israelites were about to be established as a nation in their own land. They needed to grow fast and become a big nation. God gave them the secret, total surrendering and allegiance to Him. 

3. God will ntimidate and give you victory over your enemies. 

In verses 27 and 28, we read these strong statements:

"I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. 28 And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you."

When you are a true worshiper of God, He will cause your enemies to run away from before you. When they see you, they are scared of you. 

4. There are other blessings worth examination in Isaiah 65:13-14. 

There it is writing:

" Therefore thus says the Lord God: "Behold, My servants shall eat, But you shall be hungry; Behold, My servants shall drink, But you shall be thirsty; Behold, My servants shall rejoice, But you shall be ashamed; 14 Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, But you shall cry for sorrow of heart, And wail for grief of spirit."

In this case, God was reminding the Israelites that there are more benefits to serve Him than to turn to idols. His servants, those who worship Him in spirit and truth will enjoy all the above blessings while those who turn away from Him will suffer shame, hunger, thirst and grief.

Oh! that we should be found as true worshipers of God!

Exode 23:25 (LSG)

«Tu serviras l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et il bénira ton pain et ton eau. Et j'éloignerai la maladie du milieu de toi.»

L'un des plus grands secrets de la vie chrétienne est de maintenir la position et l'attitude d'un véritable adorateur. Nous savons que Dieu est Esprit et qu'il ne peut agir et révéler sa gloire qu'à travers des hommes qui lui sont soumis dans l'adoration. L'adoration, c'est consacrer notre vie à la volonté et au dessein de Dieu. L'adoration, c'est reconnaître la souveraineté de Dieu dans nos vies et sur la création. Adorer Dieu, c'est reconnaître sa valeur et sa gloire ; l'honorer et le révérer ; se soumettre à sa seigneurie et à son autorité ; servir son dessein. 

Dans l'Ancien Testament, le mot fréquemment traduit comme « adorer » signifie également : 

• se prosterner, 

• tomber à plat ventre, 

• implorer humblement, 

• faire preuve de révérence, 

• faire s'incliner, 

• faire ou obéir. 

Que gagnons-nous à être de véritables adorateurs de Dieu ? 

1. Une bonne santé Nous le voyons dans Exode 23:25. 

Moïse dit aux Israélites : « Vous servirez l'Éternel, votre Dieu, et il bénira votre pain et vos eaux. Et j'éloignerai la maladie du milieu de vous. »

Oh ! Que Dieu bénisse, votre pain et votre eau. Qu'Il transforme la nourriture que vous mangez en remède qui vous guérira et vous rendra la santé, au nom de Jésus ! 

2. Multiplication et longue vie 

Toujours dans Exode 23, au verset 26, nous lisons : 

« Il n'y aura ni avorton ni stérile dans ton pays ; j'accomplirai le nombre de tes jours. »

À ce moment-là, les Israélites étaient sur le point de s'établir comme nation sur leur propre terre. Ils devaient croître rapidement et devenir une grande nation. Dieu leur a donné le secret : une soumission et une allégeance totales à Lui.

3. Dieu intimidera et vous donnera la victoire sur vos ennemis. 

Les versets 27 et 28 contiennent ces déclarations fortes : 

« J’enverrai ma terreur devant toi, je jetterai le trouble parmi tous les peuples chez qui tu entreras, et je ferai tourner le dos à tous tes ennemis. 28 J’enverrai devant toi des frelons qui chasseront devant toi les Héviens, les Cananéens et les Hittites. »

Si vous êtes un véritable adorateur de Dieu, il fera fuir vos ennemis. Lorsqu’ils vous verront, ils auront peur de vous.

4. D’autres bénédictions qui méritent d’être examinées dans Ésaïe 65:13-14. 

Il y est écrit : 

«C’est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel : Voici, mes serviteurs mangeront, et vous aurez faim ; voici, mes serviteurs boiront, mais vous aurez soif ; voici, mes serviteurs se réjouiront, et vous serez confus ; 14 Voici, mes serviteurs chanteront de joie, mais vous, c'est la tristesse de votre cœur, et vous, c'est la souffrance de votre esprit, que vous pleurerez."

Dans ce cas, Dieu rappelait aux Israélites qu'il y a plus de bienfaits à le servir qu'à se tourner vers les idoles. Ses serviteurs, ceux qui l'adorent en esprit et en vérité, jouiront de toutes les bénédictions mentionnées ci-dessus, tandis que ceux qui se détournent de lui souffriront de la honte, de la faim, de la soif et du chagrin. 

Oh ! si nous pouvions être de véritables adorateurs de Dieu !
