The Law of Work
Psalm 104:23 (NKJV)
"Man goes out to his work and to his labour until the evening."
The Law of Work can be traced back to Eternity, i.e., to the Lord God Almighty Himself, Who introduced Mankind to the Law of Work at Creation (Gen. 2:15). God demonstrated the Law of Work when He created the Earth and passed down the Responsibility of tending the Earth to Man. The Primary Purpose of Work, as designed by God, is to partner with Him in tending the Earth He created. God has always been a Hard Worker Who made Man in His Image and Likeness to be a hard worker like Himself. There is absolutely nothing evil or wrong about work.
On the contrary, it was actually the rebellion of Adam that introduced toil and hardship to work (Gen. 3:19). The Lord God did not just give the Law of Work to man. On a daily basis we witness the Law of Work in motion among the animals: the ants, the bees, the beavers to mention but a few, and these animals have been commissioned by God for very important roles which are beneficial to man, animals, plants and the entire Ecosystem. We also observe the plants, the Heavenly Bodies, the water bodies, and their inhabitants alongside every other Creation of God at work day and night.
There are various aspects of Work that God assigned for Mankind and for every aspect of Work, God has invested within every single person on Earth different special and unique abilities to facilitate their effectiveness in their chosen work or labour.
Work could be classified into three different categories: Spiritual, Mental, and Physical. You would find yourself doing any one of these at one time or another. There are several benefits connected with Work, which God has made available for us as Genuine Christian believers:
a. Work provides our daily meals and nourishment: (Gen. 2:14-15; Prov. 14:23).
b. It takes Work to fulfil God's Purpose for our lives on Earth: (Ps. 90:15-17).
c. It takes work to exercise Dominion on Earth: (Gen. 2:15).
On this premise, we will now go on to examine some of the Laws of Work according to the Holy Scriptures:
1. THE LAW OF ETHICS:
The Holy Bible has plenty to say about the Code of Ethics such as Integrity, Faithfulness, Service, and Accountability in our work, whether towards God or man (2Cor. 6:3).
2. THE LAW OF HARD WORK AND DILIGENCE:
This has to define our Work, whether to God or man (Ecc. 9:10; Col. 3:23).
3. THE LAW OF EXCELLENCE:
As Christian believers, our Work needs to be marked by Excellence (Gen. 1:31; Mk. 7:37).
4. THE LAW OF THE SABBATH:
The Almighty God Himself rested on the Seventh Day (Gen. 2.2, Ex. 20:9-10) not due to fatigue but because He wanted to set an Example for us to follow. Rest is very essential for rejuvenation and refuelling for more Work. In the New Covenant, the Sabbath is not a day but rather it is more of a System. Every Christian believer must devise a System of rest that suits them and then adhere to it judiciously. Christ Jesus, our Saviour, established a Perfect Work Ethic Example for us during His Earthly Ministry (Jn. 9:4). His Work was in constant Partnership with the Father (Jn. 5:17). We must always bear in mind that it is God Himself Who empowers us to do meaningful work (Phil. 2:13) and just like Christ Jesus, our work, no matter how big or small needs to be in Submission and Partnership with our Heavenly Father.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we magnify Your Holy Name. O Lord, please grant us the Grace to Work in partnership with You to establish Your Will on Earth in Jesus' Name. Amen.

La Loi du Travail
Psaume 104:23 (LSG)
« L’homme sort pour se rendre à son travail et à son ouvrage jusqu’au soir. »
La Loi du Travail remonte à l’Éternité, c’est-à-dire au Seigneur Dieu Tout-Puissant Lui-même, qui introduisit l’humanité à cette loi dès la Création (Genèse 2:15). Dieu démontra la Loi du Travail lorsqu’Il créa la Terre et confia à l’homme la responsabilité de la cultiver et de la garder. Le but principal du travail, tel que Dieu l’a conçu, est de collaborer avec Lui dans l’entretien de la Terre qu’Il a créée. Dieu a toujours été un grand travailleur et Il a fait l’homme à Son image et à Sa ressemblance pour qu’il soit, lui aussi, un travailleur diligent. Il n’y a absolument rien de mauvais ni de honteux dans le travail.
Au contraire, c’est la rébellion d’Adam qui introduisit la peine et la difficulté dans le travail (Genèse 3:19). Le Seigneur Dieu n’a pas seulement donné la Loi du Travail à l’homme. Chaque jour, nous voyons cette loi à l’œuvre dans la nature : les fourmis, les abeilles, les castors, pour ne citer que ceux-là. Ces créatures ont été mandatées par Dieu pour des rôles essentiels, bénéfiques à l’homme, aux animaux, aux plantes et à tout l’écosystème. Nous observons également les plantes, les corps célestes, les mers et leurs habitants, et toute la création de Dieu à l’œuvre jour et nuit.
Dieu a assigné à l’humanité diverses formes de travail, et pour chacune d’elles, Il a investi en chaque personne des capacités spéciales et uniques afin de rendre leur activité efficace et fructueuse.
Le travail peut être classé en trois catégories : spirituel, mental et physique. Chacun de nous exerce, à un moment ou à un autre, l’une de ces formes de travail. Il existe plusieurs bénédictions liées au travail que Dieu a rendues accessibles à Ses véritables enfants :
a. Le travail pourvoit à nos besoins quotidiens et à notre nourriture (Genèse 2:14-15 ; Proverbes 14:23).
b. Il faut travailler pour accomplir le dessein de Dieu pour nos vies sur la Terre (Psaume 90:15-17).
c. Il faut travailler pour exercer la domination sur la Terre (Genèse 2:15).
Sur cette base, examinons quelques lois du travail selon les Saintes Écritures :
1. LA LOI DE L’ÉTHIQUE :
La Bible parle abondamment de l’éthique du travail, notamment de l’intégrité, de la fidélité, du service et de la responsabilité, que ce soit envers Dieu ou envers les hommes (2 Corinthiens 6:3).
2. LA LOI DU TRAVAIL ARDU ET DE LA DILIGENCE :
Le travail doit être défini par la persévérance et la diligence, qu’il soit pour Dieu ou pour les hommes (Ecclésiaste 9:10 ; Colossiens 3:23).
3. LA LOI DE L’EXCELLENCE :
En tant que croyants, notre travail doit être caractérisé par l’excellence (Genèse 1:31 ; Marc 7:37).
4. LA LOI DU SABBAT :
Le Dieu Tout-Puissant Lui-même se reposa le septième jour (Genèse 2:2 ; Exode 20:9-10), non par fatigue, mais pour nous donner un exemple à suivre. Le repos est essentiel pour la régénération et la préparation à de nouvelles tâches. Dans la Nouvelle Alliance, le sabbat n’est plus seulement un jour, mais un système. Chaque croyant doit établir un rythme de repos adapté à sa vie et s’y tenir fidèlement.
Christ Jésus, notre Sauveur, nous a montré un parfait modèle d’éthique de travail durant Son ministère terrestre (Jean 9:4). Son œuvre était toujours en partenariat constant avec le Père (Jean 5:17). Souvenons-nous toujours que c’est Dieu Lui-même qui nous donne la capacité d’accomplir un travail significatif (Philippiens 2:13). Comme Jésus-Christ, notre travail — petit ou grand — doit être soumis à Dieu et accompli en partenariat avec Lui.
PRIÈRE :
Père céleste, nous magnifions Ton saint Nom. Seigneur, accorde-nous la grâce de travailler en partenariat avec Toi pour établir Ta volonté sur la Terre, au nom de Jésus.
