Redefine the Meaning & the Purpose of the Church for a Deeper Spirituality.
The aim of this message is to help us to know what the church is from a biblical perspective and how we should participate in the work of God.
1 Timothy 3: 14-15
”I am writing these things to you now, even though I hope to be with you soon, 15 so that if I am delayed, you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. This is the church of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth.”
With the many scandales and deviations in many churches today, CHURCH has become a byword to many people. This affects people’s commitment and behaviors towards the church. There is a way people should conduct or behave themselves in the church. Paul’s first letter to Timothy was to guide him on how to set that order.
The church is not just any other human association or organization. It is the house of God; the temple of the Living God; the body of Christ. Paul identified the church as the pillar and foundation of the truth. The church was meant to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth, the barometer and catalyst of spirituality in the society.
By definition, the church is the assembly of God’s people who have believed in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. We distinguish the universal Church which is made up of all believers at all times (past, present and future) and from all denominations belonging to God. Then, the local church, made up of believers who gather regularly at a certain place to worship God, fellowship together and do the work of God.
The church is the most powerful organization that exists on earth. Committing yourself to Christ and to His church is the best decision one can ever make. But we seem to have people who claim they believe in Jesus Christ, but they cannot identify with a local church. No! That’s a lie. Jesus Christ, the Church and Christianity are inseparable.
Jesus Christ is at the centre of Christianity. There is no Christianity without Jesus Christ.
1. He is the vine and we are the branches. John 15. Without Christ at the centre and command of our lives, our spirituality is empty…
2. Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone of the temple, the house of God. Ephesians 2: 19-20
3. Jesus Christ is the head of the church, we are His body. Colossians 1: 18
4. We are members of His body, bones and flesh, Ephesians 5: 30.
5. Jesus Christ has a body on earth, it is called the Church.
6. The church is also illustrated as the bride of Christ.
In the same way that there is no Christianity without Christ, there is also no Christianity without the Church, whether universal or local church. There is only one institution that Jesus Christ left on earth. What is that institution? THE CHURCH. Not a ministry, not a building.
A great part of our spirituality is measured by how connected and how involved we are to a local church. A person who says, "I am a Christian, but I don’t want to belong or participate in a church” is either ignorant or not saved at all. How committed and involved are you to your local church? Are you a member in a local church?
Some people draw their church program putting other activities such as work, appointment, leisure first. Then they will say, “If I have time, I will come to church service or to prayer meeting.”
When you tell God, “If I have time, I will come to church service of come to the seminar or come to the prayer meeting”, also be prepared that when God has time, He will attend to your needs. You cannot neglect church and you expect God to put you first. No!
How do you view Church? The programs of your church and the work of God?
Make up your mind today, “I will put my God and my church program first.”

Father thank you for helping me to learn more about the church and how important it is to my relationship with you. Help me to behave rightly towards the church and its activities. In Jesus name, amen!

Redéfinir le sens et le but de l’Église pour une spiritualité plus profonde.
Le but de ce message est de nous aider à connaître ce qu’est l’église d’un point de vue biblique et comment nous devons participer à l’œuvre de Dieu.
1 Timothy 3 : 14-15
"Je t’écris ces choses maintenant, même si j’espère être bientôt avec toi, 15 afin que, si je tarde, tu saches comment les hommes doivent se conduire dans la maison de Dieu, l’église du Dieu vivant, qui est la colonne et le fondement de la vérité. »
Avec les nombreux scandales et déviations dans de nombreuses églises aujourd’hui, l’ÉGLISE est devenue un synonyme pour beaucoup de gens. Cela affecte l’engagement et les comportements des gens envers l’Église. Il existe une façon dont les gens devraient se conduire ou se comporter dans l’Église. La première lettre de Paul à Timothée avait pour but de le guider sur la façon d’établir cet ordre.
L’Église n’est pas simplement une autre association ou organisation humaine, c’est la maison de Dieu ; le temple du Dieu vivant ; le corps du Christ. Paul a identifié l’église comme le pilier et la fondation de la vérité. L’église était destinée à être la lumière du monde, le sel de la terre, le baromètre et le catalyseur de la spiritualité dans la société.
Par définition, l’église est l’assemblée du peuple de Dieu qui a cru en Jésus-Christ comme Sauveur et Seigneur. Nous distinguons l’Église universelle qui est composée de tous les croyants en tout temps (passé, présent et futur) et de toutes les dénominations appartenant à Dieu. Ensuite, l’église locale, composée de croyants qui se rassemblent régulièrement à un certain endroit pour adorer Dieu, communier ensemble et faire le travail de Dieu.
L’église est l’organisation la plus puissante qui existe sur terre. S’engager à Christ et à Son église est la meilleure décision que l’on puisse prendre. Mais il semble que nous ayons des gens qui prétendent croire en Jésus-Christ, mais ils ne peuvent pas s’identifier à une église locale. Non ! C’est un mensonge. Jésus-Christ, l’Église et le christianisme sont inséparables.
Jésus-Christ est au centre du christianisme. Il n’y a pas de christianisme sans Jésus-Christ.
1. Il est la vigne et nous sommes les sarments. Jean 15. Sans le Christ au centre et au commandement de nos vies, notre spiritualité est vide...
2. Jésus-Christ est la pierre angulaire du temple, la maison de Dieu. Éphésiens 2 : 19-20
3. Jésus-Christ est la tête de l’Église, nous sommes son corps. Colossiens 1 : 18
4. Nous sommes membres de son corps, os et chair, Éphésiens 5:30.
5. Jésus-Christ a un corps sur la terre, il est appelé l’Église.
6. L’église est également illustrée comme l’épouse du Christ.
De la même manière qu’il n’y a pas de christianisme sans le Christ, il n’y a pas non plus de christianisme sans l’Église, qu’elle soit universelle ou locale. Il n’y a qu’une seule institution que Jésus-Christ a laissée sur terre. Quelle est cette institution ? L’ÉGLISE. Ce n’est pas un ministère, ce n’est pas un bâtiment.
Une grande partie de notre spiritualité est mesurée par la façon dont nous connectons et impliquons dans une église locale. Une personne qui dit : « Je suis chrétien, mais je ne veux pas appartenir ou participer à une église » est soit ignorante, soit pas du tout sauvée. À quel point êtes-vous engagé et impliqué dans votre église locale ? Êtes-vous membre d’une église locale ?
Certaines personnes dessinent leur programme d’église en mettant d’autres activités telles que le travail, les rendez-vous et les loisirs en premier. Ensuite, ils disent : « Si j’ai le temps, je viendrai à un service religieux ou à une réunion de prière. »
Lorsque vous dites à Dieu, « Si j’ai le temps, je viendrai au service de l’église ou au séminaire ou à la réunion de prière », soyez également prêts à ce que, lorsque Dieu aura le temps, Il répondra à vos besoins. Tu ne peux pas négliger l’église et tu t’attends à ce que Dieu te fasse passer en premier. Non !
Comment percevez-vous l’Église ? Les programmes de votre Église et le travail de Dieu ?
Décidez-vous aujourd’hui : « Je mettrai mon Dieu et le programme de mon église en premier. »

Père, merci de m’avoir aidé à en apprendre davantage sur l’Église et sur son importance dans ma relation avec toi. Aide-moi à me comporter correctement envers l’église et ses activités. Au nom de Jésus, amen !
