Right Now, This Moment — God's Unspeakable Nearness
Acts 17:27 (ESV)
"That they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us."
Where is God right now? Not in theory. Not in theology. Right now, in this moment, where is He? You may feel distant from Him. You may feel like He is far away, removed from your situation, absent from your pain. You may feel like you need to climb a mountain, cross an ocean, or achieve some spiritual state to find Him. But Paul says something different. He says God is "actually not far from each one of us" (Acts 17:27). Not far. Not distant. Not removed. Right here. Right now. In this very moment.
Paul was speaking to the philosophers of Athens, a people who worshiped many gods and built altars to unknown deities. They were seeking, feeling their way in the dark, trying to find the divine. And Paul told them: the God you are seeking is not far. He is near. He is not a distant deity who needs to be appeased. He is a present Father who wants to be found. "He is not far from each one of us." Not far from the seeker. Not far from the doubter. Not far from the sinner. Not far from you.
Jeremiah declared: "Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? Do I not fill heaven and earth?" (Jeremiah 23:23-24). God is not confined to a temple or a mountain. He fills all things. He is present everywhere. He is present in your room. He is present in your car. He is present in your workplace. He is present in your pain. He is present in your silence. He is present right now.
The psalmist wrote: "But for me it is good to be near God" (Psalm 73:28). Not to be near God in the future. Not to be near God when circumstances improve. Not to be near God when I get my act together. To be near God now. To know His presence now. To experience His nearness now. The nearness of God is not a reward for the perfect. It is a gift for the seeking. "The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth" (Psalm 145:18).
James promised: "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you" (James 4:8). The nearness of God is not something you have to earn. It is not something you have to achieve. It is not something you have to wait for. It is something you can experience right now. In this moment. In this breath. In this prayer. He is near. He is waiting. He is ready. The question is not whether He is near. The question is whether you will acknowledge His nearness. Whether you will stop living as if He is far away. Whether you will open your eyes to the God who is already here.
Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I have lived as if You were far away. I have felt distant from You. I have sought You in the future, in circumstances, in achievements. But You are near. Right now. In this moment. Help me to see Your nearness. Help me to feel Your presence. Help me to know that You are not far from me. Draw near to me as I draw near to You. Let me experience the unspeakable nearness of Your presence—right now, in this very moment. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Maintenant, en ce Moment — La Proximité Inexprimable de Dieu
Actes 17:27 (LSG)
"Il a voulu qu'ils cherchent le Seigneur, et qu'ils s'efforcent de le trouver en tâtonnant, bien qu'il ne soit pas loin de chacun de nous."
Où est Dieu en ce moment ? Pas en théorie. Pas en théologie. Maintenant, en ce moment même, où est-Il ? Tu peux te sentir loin de Lui. Tu peux avoir l'impression qu'Il est loin, retiré de ta situation, absent de ta douleur. Tu peux avoir l'impression que tu dois gravir une montagne, traverser un océan ou atteindre un certain état spirituel pour Le trouver. Mais Paul dit quelque chose de différent. Il dit que Dieu n'est "pas loin de chacun de nous" (Actes 17:27). Pas loin. Pas distant. Pas retiré. Juste ici. Juste maintenant. En ce moment même.
Paul parlait aux philosophes d'Athènes, un peuple qui adorait de nombreux dieux et construisait des autels à des divinités inconnues. Ils cherchaient, tâtonnaient dans le noir, essayant de trouver le divin. Et Paul leur a dit : le Dieu que vous cherchez n'est pas loin. Il est proche. Il n'est pas une divinité lointaine qui doit être apaisée. Il est un Père présent qui veut être trouvé. "Il n'est pas loin de chacun de nous." Pas loin du chercheur. Pas loin du douteur. Pas loin du pécheur. Pas loin de toi.
Jérémie a déclaré : "Ne suis-je un Dieu proche, dit l'Éternel, et non un Dieu lointain ? Quelqu'un se cache-t-il dans un lieu secret sans que je le voie ? Ne remplis-je pas, moi, les cieux et la terre ?" (Jérémie 23:23-24). Dieu n'est pas confiné à un temple ou à une montagne. Il remplit toutes choses. Il est présent partout. Il est présent dans ta chambre. Il est présent dans ta voiture. Il est présent sur ton lieu de travail. Il est présent dans ta douleur. Il est présent dans ton silence. Il est présent maintenant.
Le psalmiste a écrit : "Pour moi, m'approcher de Dieu, c'est mon bien" (Psaume 73:28). Pas m'approcher de Dieu dans le futur. Pas m'approcher de Dieu quand les circonstances s'amélioreront. Pas m'approcher de Dieu quand je me serai ressaisi. M'approcher de Dieu maintenant. Connaître Sa présence maintenant. Expérimenter Sa proximité maintenant. La proximité de Dieu n'est pas une récompense pour les parfaits. C'est un don pour ceux qui cherchent. "L'Éternel est près de tous ceux qui l'invoquent, de tous ceux qui l'invoquent avec sincérité" (Psaume 145:18).
Jacques a promis : "Approchez-vous de Dieu, et il s'approchera de vous" (Jacques 4:8). La proximité de Dieu n'est pas quelque chose que tu dois gagner. Ce n'est pas quelque chose que tu dois accomplir. Ce n'est pas quelque chose que tu dois attendre. C'est quelque chose que tu peux expérimenter maintenant. En ce moment. Dans ce souffle. Dans cette prière. Il est proche. Il attend. Il est prêt. La question n'est pas de savoir s'Il est proche. La question est de savoir si tu reconnaîtras Sa proximité. Si tu cesseras de vivre comme s'Il était loin. Si tu ouvriras les yeux sur le Dieu qui est déjà là.
Prière :
Seigneur, je confesse que j'ai vécu comme si Tu étais loin. Je me suis senti distant de Toi. Je T'ai cherché dans le futur, dans les circonstances, dans les réalisations. Mais Tu es proche. Maintenant. En ce moment. Aide-moi à voir Ta proximité. Aide-moi à sentir Ta présence. Aide-moi à savoir que Tu n'es pas loin de moi. Approche-toi de moi tandis que je m'approche de Toi. Laisse-moi expérimenter la proximité inexprimable de Ta présence—maintenant, en ce moment même. Au nom de Jésus, Amen.
Que tu connaisses la proximité de Dieu en ce moment, et que Sa présence te remplisse de paix, de joie et d'un réconfort inexprimable. Passe une bonne journée.
