Praying With No Faith Left
Mark 9:24 (ESV)
"Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, 'I believe; help my unbelief!'"
You have prayed with no faith left. You have opened your mouth and found no belief in your words. You have lifted your hands and felt nothing but emptiness. You have wanted to believe. You have wanted to trust. You have wanted to have the faith that moves mountains. But the mountain has not moved. The prayer has not been answered. The silence has been too long. And now you are not even sure if you believe anymore. You are not even sure if God is listening. You are not even sure if prayer works. And you feel guilty for feeling this way. You think a good Christian would never doubt. You think a faithful believer would never struggle. But you are struggling. And you are ashamed.
The father in Mark 9 knew this struggle. His son was possessed by a demon. He had brought him to the disciples, and they could not heal him. He had tried everything. He had hoped for everything. And now he stood before Jesus with nothing left. He said: "If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us" (Mark 9:22). Jesus answered: "If you can! All things are possible for one who believes" (Mark 9:23). And the father cried out: "I believe; help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24). He did not pretend to have strong faith. He did not hide his doubt. He brought his mixed, weak, struggling faith to Jesus. And Jesus did not rebuke him. He did not turn him away. He healed his son.
Here is the truth you need to hear: You do not need perfect faith to pray. You do not need mountain-moving faith to be heard. You do not need to have it all together. You just need to come. You just need to be honest. You just need to bring your weak faith—your doubting faith, your struggling faith, your "I believe; help my unbelief" faith—to Jesus. He does not despise the broken heart. He does not reject the honest doubt. He meets you where you are. And He does what you cannot do. He helps your unbelief.
Prayer:
Lord, I have no faith left. I have prayed, and I have doubted. I have believed, and I have struggled. I have wanted to trust You, but the silence has been too long. I bring You my weak faith. I bring You my honest doubt. I bring You my "I believe; help my unbelief." Do not turn me away. Do not rebuke me. Meet me where I am. Help my unbelief. Strengthen what little faith remains. And do what I cannot do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
May the Lord meet you in your doubt, strengthen your weak faith, and remind you that even a mustard seed is enough. Have a blessed day.

Prier Sans Aucune Foi Restante
Marc 9:24 (LSG)
Tu as voulu croire. Tu as voulu faire confiance. Et tu as honte.
Jésus a répondu : "Si tu peux !...
