Understand and Flow with the Holy Spirit. (Part Four)
The focus of this morning is to look at some of the works of the Holy Spirit. What is the Holy Spirit responsible for? We will look at His work from Three perspectives:
1. In relation to the world and the universe.
The Holy Spirit is responsible for creation and preservation of the universe and the earth; in Palms 104:29-30 we are told;
“You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. 30 You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth.”
If God takes away His Spirit from the world, no life will exist. The Holy Spirit renews the face of the earth; that is, He preserves the earth and life on earth. In the Amplified version, that sentence is rendered, “and You replenish the face of the ground.” Other versions states: “you give new life to the earth.” (GNT); “and you make the land new again.” (NCV)
Life on earth is possible because of the Holy Spirit. He was hovering and continues to hover over the face of the earth.
2. In relation to Humanity.
He convinces humanity of sin, God’s righteousness and judgement. That was said by Jesus Christ in (John 16: 7-8-11).
The Holy Spirit is also responsible for glorifying Christ in the world, (John 16: 12-15).
If you wish to know if someone who is preaching and even doing miracles is led by the Holy Spirit, just verified if he is truly glorifying Christ or is trying to draw attention to himself. Any work of ministry even if it is done in the name of Jesus Christ that does not directly give glory to God is not of God. It is a different spirit.
That is why many will come on the day of judgment who are rejected and will cry, “Lord have we not preached and made miracles in your name?” They will be told, “Away from me, worker of iniquities, I never knew you”. They weren’t working for Christ, but for themselves.
3. In relation to the believers.
The Holy Spirit performs the followings:
- He Regenerates. Just as the Holy Spirit conceived Jesus, we believers experience the same thing in the spiritual when we get born again. We are born of the Spirit of God. (John 3: 5-8; John 1: 12-13).
- He Indwells every believer. (1 Corinthians 6: 19 Romans 8:9-11)
- He Seals. (Ephesians 1: 13-14; 4: 30); this means Ownership, (Galatians 4: 6,7);
- He Gives assurance to our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8: 14-16).
- He Infills and anoint all believers- that is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2: 1-4)
God wants us to br filled with the Holy Spirit for service (Acts 6: 3,5; 9: 17).
This is a necessary ingredient. If it were optional, Jesus would not have demanded that the disciples wait in Jerusalem (Acts 1: 4,5)
- He empowers believers for life and service. We don't do God's work with human power and wisdom. No! We need the power of the Holy Spirit.
- The Holy Spirit is at the very center of the believer’s victory over sin (Romans 8: 1-2)
- He produces the ingredients for Christian life, he fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5: 22-23)
- He guides the believer’s life, (Romans 8: 14; Galatians 5: 16, 25)
- He guides individuals to their field of ministry or labor (Acts 8: 26-39; 13: 2-4; 16: 6-8)
- He anoints believers for:
Knowledge and teaching, (1 Cor 2: 9-14; 1 John 2: 27); And for Service (Luke 4: 18; Isaiah 61: 1)
- He gives spiritual gifts to believers (1 Corinthians 12)
Every believer has received from the Holy Spirit at least one spiritual gift. You need to discover yours and use it for God’s glory. No believer is supposed to be idle in the house of God. No!

Comprendre et se laisser porter par le Saint-Esprit (Quatrième Partie)
Ce matin, nous nous pencherons sur les œuvres du Saint-Esprit. De quoi est-Il responsable ? Nous examinerons son œuvre sous trois angles.
1. En relation avec le monde et l'univers.
Le Saint-Esprit est responsable de la création et de la préservation de la vie dans l'univers et la terre, comme le dit les Paumes 104:29-30:
«Tu caches ta face, ils sont troublés ; Tu leur retires le souffle, ils meurent et retournent à leur poussière. 30 Tu envoies ton Esprit, ils sont créés ; Et tu renouvelles la face de la terre.»
Si Dieu venait à retirer son Esprit du monde, il n'y aura plus de vie. Le Saint-Esprit renouvelle la face de la terre ; c'est-à-dire qu'il préserve la terre et la vie sur terre. Dans la version amplifiée, cette phrase est traduite ainsi : « et tu remplis la surface de la terre. »
D’autres versions disent : « tu redonnes la vie à la terre. » (GNT) ; « et tu renouvelles la terre. » (NCV)
2. Concernant l’humanité.
Il convainc les hommes du péché, de la justice et du jugement de Dieu (Jean 16:7-8-11).
Le Saint-Esprit glorifie le Christ dans le monde, (Jean 16:12-15).
Si vous souhaitez savoir si quelqu’un qui prêche et même accomplit des miracles est guidé par le Saint-Esprit, vérifiez simplement s’il glorifie réellement le Christ ou s’il cherche à attirer l’attention.
Tout ministère, même accompli au nom de Jésus-Christ, qui ne glorifie pas directement Dieu, n'est pas de Dieu. C'est pourquoi, au jour du jugement, nombreux seront ceux qui seront rejetés et qui s'écrieront : « Seigneur, n'avons-nous pas prêché et fait des miracles en ton nom ? » Il leur dira : « Éloignez-vous de moi, ouvriers d'iniquités, je ne vous ai jamais connu. » Ils ne travaillaient pas pour Christ, mais pour eux-mêmes.
3. Concernant le croyant.
Le Saint-Esprit accomplit les actions suivantes dans les croyants:
- Il nous régénère.
Tout comme le Saint-Esprit a conçu Jésus, nous, croyants, vivons la même chose dans le spirituel lors de la nouvelle naissance (Jean 3:5-8 ; Jean 1:12-13).
- Il demeure en nous. (1 Corinthiens 6:19 ; Romains 8:9-11)
- Il scellé les croyants . (Éphésiens 1:13-14 ; 4:30); Cela signifie, faire de nous la propriété de Dieu (Galates 4:6,7) ;
- Il donne l'assurance (Romains 8:14-16).
- Il remplit et oint– c'est cela le baptême du Saint-Esprit (Actes 2:1-4).
Dieu recherche des hommes remplis du Saint-Esprit pour le service (Actes 6:3,5 ; 9:17).
C'est un élément nécessaire. Si cela avait été facultatif, Jésus n'aurait pas exigé que les disciples attendent à Jérusalem (Actes 1:4,5).
- Il donne la force nécessaire pour la vie et le service.
Le Saint-Esprit est au cœur même de la victoire du croyant sur le péché (Romains 8:1-2).
Il produit les ingrédients de la vie chrétienne, le fruit de l'esprit (Galates 5:22-23).
- Il guide la vie du croyant (Romains 8:14 ; Galates 5:16, 25).
- Il guide les individus vers leur domaine de ministère ou de travail (Actes 8:26-39 ; 13:2-4 ; 16:6-8).
- Il oint le croyant pour :
la connaissance et l'enseignement (1 Corinthiens 2:9-14 ; 1 Jean 2:27) ; et pour le service (Luc 4:18 ; Ésaïe 61:1).
- Il accorde des dons aux croyants (1 Corinthiens 12).
Chaque croyant a reçu du Saint-Esprit au moins un don spirituel. Il est important de le découvrir et de l'utiliser pour la gloire de Dieu. Aucun croyant n'est censé rester inactif dans la maison de Dieu. Non !
